BACKGROUND
Each year, millions of products are brought into DICK’s Sporting Goods and moved throughout the store to reach our Athletes. Store Teammates manage these essential operations, which form the foundation of our business; without them, we can’t keep our athletes happy.
CHALLENGE
For years, store Teammates relied on outdated applications or no technology at all to manage inventory and stockrooms, resulting in inefficiencies that led to lost sales, longer fulfillment times, holes on the sales floor, and a poor shopping experience for Athletes. Due to the lacking systems this poorly affected online and in-store sales as well as Athlete and Teammate satisfaction. Our product team was tasked with delivering and iterating on a solution that empowers store Teammates to manage stockrooms, have visibility to item location, ensure accurate stock levels, conduct sales floor replenishment and more.

Q2. If given a map of product location on the sales floor in StockIt, what would you use this for?
The feature uses RFID technology to help Teammates quickly locate products. By scanning a UPC, Teammates can initiate a search using a RFID sled. As they move closer to the product, audio and visual cues indicate proximity. This “Geiger counter” capability is built into StockIt and is also available as a shared service for any teammate-facing mobile app.
“It is very helpful to find one on-hands that could be randomly set somewhere. Also, it is great for finding shoes and apparel in the back that don’t have a StockIt location.” -Kenneth, store 1579
“I wish the tool could be a bit more directional like a compass rather then just being somewhere in the vacinity of the item.” Nicole, 1361
The results show that this feature enables stores to find 7 million in products each month!
“Best idea this company has executed since I have been here, It is borderline perfect in my opinion.” -Michael, store 301
Has been extremely helpful in locating one off items that may have been misplaced in order to better serve our athletes. -Leslie, store 1129
